Brooke began her time at Skillern Firm as a law clerk during her studies at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. Throughout law school, Brooke focused her course work on family law matters as well as practice in alternative dispute resolutions. Brooke has participated in advanced family law courses that required extensive legal research and writing exercises.
While participating in family law courses, Brooke worked eagerly to learn and earned herself a spot on the Dean’s List throughout several semesters, receiving academic merit scholarships for her work. During her last year of law school, Brooke was selected to receive the Pamela E. George Family Law Award. This is an award representative of a student who has excelled in family law courses and shows great potential to succeed in the family law field.
As a law clerk at Skillern Firm, Brooke performed many tasks that would prepare her for her role as a family law attorney. Brooke worked closely with several clients and participated in many aspects of cases alongside highly developed attorneys in the Firm. Brooke’s goal as a law clerk at the Firm was to work diligently to learn and experience the role of a family law attorney in order to make a seamless transition into her professional practice.
Brooke’s upbringing inspired her to study and practice family law. Her experiences have allowed her to work empathetically for her clients and with an appreciation of what her clients are going through. Brooke’s goal within the firm is to be effective, detail-oriented, and prepared every step of the way in order to instill confidence in her clients. Brooke has assisted with the preparation of and has attended several mediations, hearings, depositions, and trials.
Outside of the office, Brooke enjoys reading and exercise, spending quality time with her family, and exploring new places in Houston with her friends. Brooke also holds a special place in her heart for animals, especially her sweet dogs, Mo and Stella.
