Evan has been a practicing trial attorney since 2015, bringing nearly a decade of legal experience to our firm. His career began with an invaluable foundation as an Assistant District Attorney with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, where he gained extensive courtroom experience and honed his litigation skills. This role provided Evan with a strong understanding of the complexities of legal proceedings, which now serves his clients well in family law cases.
Before joining Skillern Firm, Evan served as AVDA’s dedicated Sexual Assault attorney, a role where he demonstrated his commitment to justice and advocacy. In this capacity, he prosecuted protective orders and provided legal representation to survivors of sexual assault in family law matters across Harris, Brazoria, and Fort Bend Counties. This experience has given Evan a deep empathy for clients navigating sensitive and emotionally charged situations, such as divorce and custody disputes.
As a native Houstonian, Evan’s ties to the community are strong and personal. After completing his undergraduate degree in biology at Indiana University – Bloomington, Evan worked in pediatric cancer research at the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center. His drive to make a difference led him to pursue a legal career, and he earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston. While in law school, Evan excelled in the moot court and mock trial advocacy programs, showcasing his passion for trial work and his ability to represent clients effectively in court.
Evan now focuses his practice on family law, providing compassionate and results-driven representation for individuals navigating divorce, child custody, property division, and other family-related legal matters. His diverse professional background equips him with a unique perspective and the ability to approach each case with precision, dedication, and care. Outside of work, Evan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children in Houston, Texas, where he continues to serve the community he calls home.
